Reaching Our Goals And Plans For The New Year
Prov. 19:21, “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand”.
As we enter into the New Year, it should be a time of reflection for all of us -- to consider the plans and goals we set for ourselves in relation to where we are now.
How well did you do last year? Did you succeed in the things you set out to do or did you find yourself coming up short?
Will this year be full of spiritual high points and accomplishments, or another year of “shoulda, coulda, woulda?”
This New Year offers us the chance to wipe the slate clean and start over once again. It will be a time to set new goals and to make new plans. As every day in the Lord should be, the New Year is a time of new beginnings.
Has your life progressed as opposed to this time last year?
*Has your Relationship with Jesus Christ deepened?
*Has your Marriage Relationship improved?
*Has your Commitment to Evangelism and Witnessing increased?
*Has your Involvement and Commitment to your church grown?
These are important questions to ask ourselves as we look to this year.
It is God's desire for us as Christians to be continually growing in all of these areas. The question is; do you have vision and purpose in each of these areas or are you simply drifting along hoping that something productive and fruitful will take place?
Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but happy is he who keeps the law”.
Here are a few areas that you can use to help you plan, grow and move forward this New Year:
SET TWO SPIRITUAL GOALS. "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (II Peter 3:18)
SET TWO PHYSICAL GOALS. "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice...which is your reasonable service." (Romans 12:1)
SET TWO MENTAL GOALS. "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..." (Romans 12:2)
SET TWO HOSPITALITY GOALS. "Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another." (Romans 12:10)
SET TWO STEWARDSHIP GOALS. "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (Luke 6:38)
